Once upon a time, there was a wealthy woman named Suma. She was known for her greediness and habit of lying to people. Every day, she would visit her neighbours and brag about her supposed good deeds, like feeding beggars, giving clothes to sanitary workers, and offering money to temple priests. However, she never actually spent her money on helping others; her only concern was saving and accumulating wealth.

Suma meets a saint in disguise

One day, Suma decided to seek help from a saint who was known for assisting the needy. Disguising herself as a needy woman, she approached him while he was meditating under a banyan tree. She humbly asked for his blessings, hoping to benefit from his reputation for generosity.

However, the saint, sensing her true intentions, told her that her actions would shape her destiny.

Suma realizes her mistake

A few days later, Suma’s wealth was stolen, and she found herself without food or resources. Desperate and hungry, she sought help from others, but no one came to her aid.

Suma becomes poor. Karma. Actions. Intent

Realizing the consequences of her selfish behaviour, Suma returned to the saint and begged for forgiveness.

The saint assured her, that acknowledging her mistakes was the first step towards redemption. He advised her to be humble and to genuinely help those in need, promising that she would regain what she had lost.
