This is a recollection shared by Grandma Bhagirathi with her companions about the Diwali festival and the sacredness of the Ganga.

The Sacredness of the Ganga

Grandma explained that the life energy in the water we use daily in our homes is far less than what exists in the waters of the Ganga—where it’s present in millions of times higher quantities. Numerous scientific researchers have also mentioned this in their studies. Bathing in the Ganga removes our sins, purifies us, and cleanses every cell of our body. All impurities within us are expelled, and even negative traits like lust, anger, greed, attachment, pride, and jealousy are washed away. These are the incredible effects of bathing in the sacred waters of the Ganga, as described by Grandma.

Moreover, not everyone who bathes in the Ganga purifies themselves of sin—only those who immerse themselves with faith are freed from sins. Grandma illustrated this truth through a short story.

The Mahalakshmi Pooja

After a young girl’s grandfather was saved by a young man who took a sacred bath in the Ganga with faith, Grandma explained how Goddess Parvati advised him on performing the Mahalakshmi Pooja. She detailed how to conduct the pooja and the blessings it would bring.

The Origin of the Phrase “Have You Bathed in the Ganga?”

On Diwali day, people traditionally ask each other if they have taken the “Ganga bath.” Grandma recounted the origins of this custom, which dates back to the compassionate blessing that Lord Shiva granted to all, upon the earnest request of an elderly couple who were devoted to him.

Additionally, she shared the method of performing the Mahalakshmi Pooja, explaining that it is still widely practiced in the North, enriching the lives of those who uphold this tradition. She gave an example, noting that the Marwari community performs this pooja with dedication, which contributes to their wealth and prosperity.

On Diwali, everyone dresses in new clothes, exchanges sweets, and celebrates joyfully. This brings the positive vibrations of Venus karma. The following day, the Mahalakshmi Pooja further enhances the favorable vibrations of Venus karma in the household.

Those born under specific nakshatras (Thiruvathira, Chithirai, and Thiruvonam) that coincide with their sign, lagna, or ruler are influenced by Venus karma according to DNA theories. However, Grandma explained that this Venusian blessing on Diwali spreads to everyone who celebrates joyously, irrespective of their karmic lineage. Thus, everyone partakes in this beneficial energy.

Happy Diwali Greetings

Grandma conveyed her heartfelt Diwali wishes to everyone two days before the festival. In return, they extended their Diwali wishes to her as they left.

Let’s all join in by wishing each other a very Happy Diwali! Thank you.
