Mangalam Mami, who came to the temple, expressed her sorrow to Grandma Bhagirathi, saying that her husband had been admitted to the hospital.
Resolving Mangalam Mami’s Doubts
Mangalam Mami asked Grandma Bhagirathi whether blessings truly have power and expressed her fear that all the blessings she had received so far might go in vain. She wept in worry, fearing the outcome. Grandma instilled confidence in Mangalam, reassuring her.
Grandma’s Advice
Grandma explained that every blessing we receive creates a positive vibration within us, filling our minds with hope. She advised that, no matter what we lose, we should never lose faith. She encouraged Mangalam to remain fearless, emphasizing that her desire to leave this world as a blessed, wedded woman would be fulfilled. However, Mangalam confessed that despite chanting slokas and performing daily prayers, she still feared death. She asked Grandma if there was a specific sloka to relieve this fear. In response, Grandma suggested that everyone save a particular sloka on their mobile phones to dispel the fear of death.
After Savitri reclaimed her husband Satyavan’s life from Yama, the God of Death, she praised him with a sloka, which is what Grandma shared with Mangalam.
The sloka instilled hope in Mangalam’s heart, dispelling her fear of death. Within a couple of months, her husband returned home. A few months later, he recovered enough to walk with Mangalam to the temple. Mami then expressed her gratitude to Grandma, saying that the sloka had given her renewed hope and affirming that she would surely depart this world as a blessed, married woman.
The Karma Insight of This Story: Guru Karma
Grandma explained to everyone that when we bow to our elders and receive blessings from their lips, Guru Karma sends positive vibrations toward us. These vibrations circulate through the universe, returning to us as good fortune.
In today’s times, children are rarely raised to seek blessings by bowing at someone’s feet, a tradition Grandma wished would return. She urged parents to set an example by bowing to elders to receive blessings, showing children the importance of this practice. In this way, children would be naturally inclined to continue the tradition. Grandma concluded by saying, “Thank you.”
