Tamil Audio Story Series – Story 5
In this story, Santhanam and Saradha lived solely for their children. Santhanam believed that his three sons would study well, advance in life, and eventually reach a good position, at which point they would take good care of him and his wife Saradha. Because of this belief, he made Saradha conform to his wishes. Consequently, he ignored Saradha’s well-being, desires, and needs, living only for their children.
However, what happened was that the three sons began living selfishly and expected a significant share of their father’s property. Therefore, they agreed to their parents moving to Chennai. But when they learned that their father had no property, they abandoned their parents completely, leaving no room for affection in their lives. As a result of how these children were raised, they bore the burden of eight karmas.
Reasons for the Negative Karmas:
- The three sons betrayed their father’s trust, who believed they would grow up and take good care of their parents. This betrayal brought them Sun Karma.
- Santhanam and Saradha suffered mental distress and lost peace of mind, lamenting their situation in old age. This brought the three sons Moon Karma.
- The three sons lived affluently without knowing if their father lived in a rented or own house. Realizing their father lived in a rented house and had no property, they abandoned their parents, bringing them Mars Karma.
- Forgetting that their parents educated and raised them to a good position, they offered no reciprocation, resulting in Mercury Karma.
- Despite their parents’ struggles to raise and place them in good jobs, the sons lived prosperously and neglected their parents, bringing them Jupiter Karma.
- Santhanam’s disregard for his wife’s well-being and treating her as a machine for raising children brought Venus Karma to their children.
- After their parents, who had raised them, could no longer do anything, the children neglected them and sought an old age home, resulting in Saturn Karma.
- As the official at the home mentioned, the three sons would avoid performing the final rites for their parents, bringing them Rahu Karma for neglecting ancestral duties.
Only when these karmas transform into virtuous karmas in successive generations will Santhanam and Saradha’s descendants benefit.
